Faith-sensitive counseling for adults and couples who want their Christian faith, spirituality, or personal values respectfully incorporated into the counseling process.
Faith, spirituality, personal values, and questions of meaning can be important parts of a person's life.
Heart CARE Counseling offers Christian and faith-integrated counseling in Glendale, Arizona, with telehealth available throughout Arizona.
For some clients, these beliefs are central to how they understand relationships, suffering, identity, forgiveness, hope, purpose, and healing. For others, spirituality may feel uncertain, complicated, distant, or not personally important at all.
Heart CARE Counseling welcomes clients of all beliefs and backgrounds.
You do not need to be Christian, religious, spiritual, or certain about what you believe in order to receive counseling here.
Faith and spirituality are incorporated into counseling only when you want them to be.
For clients who desire faith-integrated counseling, our work may include exploration of:
Christian faith and biblical values
Prayer
Scripture
Spiritual practices
Questions about God or faith
Meaning, purpose, and calling
Forgiveness
Religious or spiritual relationships
Personal values and moral concerns
Experiences within churches or faith communities
The degree to which these topics are included is based on your preferences and goals.
They will not be assumed, required, or imposed.
Clients who specifically want counseling from a Christian perspective are welcome to request that approach.
For clients who desire it, counseling may include exploration of Christian beliefs, Scripture, prayer, spiritual struggles, forgiveness, meaning, identity, and the role of faith in relationships and emotional healing.
For those clients, Christian faith may become a meaningful part of the counseling process while still incorporating appropriate professional counseling principles and interventions.
Faith-integrated counseling does not mean that every concern will be reduced to a spiritual issue or that prayer or Scripture will replace clinical treatment.
Instead, your faith can be one important part of understanding who you are, what matters to you, and how you want to approach change, healing, relationships, and difficult experiences.
Heart CARE Counseling is not limited to Christian clients.
Clients from other religious traditions, spiritual backgrounds, or belief systems are welcome.
If your faith or spirituality is important to you, I will seek to understand the role it plays in your life rather than assuming that your beliefs are the same as mine.
You are also welcome to explore doubts, questions, changes in belief, spiritual conflict, or difficult experiences connected with religion.
You may prefer counseling that does not incorporate faith or spirituality at all.
That is completely acceptable.
If you do not want religious or spiritual content included in counseling, those topics will not be introduced as part of treatment unless they become relevant to something you choose to discuss.
Your counseling experience does not depend upon sharing my personal beliefs.
Religion and spirituality are not always experienced positively.
Some people have experienced shame, rejection, control, fear, spiritual manipulation, or other painful experiences within religious environments.
Counseling can provide a space to talk honestly about those experiences without pressure to defend, reject, restore, or change your beliefs.
The goal is to understand your experience and what it means to you.
Your beliefs are one part of a larger picture that may also include your relationships, family history, culture, experiences, values, emotions, strengths, struggles, and hopes for the future.
My role is to understand what matters to you and to work with you in a way that respects your autonomy.
Whether faith is central to your life, something you are questioning, or something you prefer not to include in counseling, you are welcome at Heart CARE Counseling.
